NIS repatriates 22 illegal Beninoise in Ogun, calls for more collaboration

The Nigeria Immigration service, NIS, Ogun State Command said it has repatriated 22 illegal Beninoise constituting nuisance in some local government areas of the state.

This was disclosed by the State Comptroller, Grace Adeoye during a visit to members of the Ogun House of Assembly in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta on Monday.

Adeoye, while calling for collaboration with the state government to complement their efforts, stated that a few more similar situations have also been handled in a bid clear the state of illegal immigrants.

Responding, the Speaker Oludaisi Elemide promised that the Assembly would continue to collaborate with the Immigration Service in enhancing its operations in the state.

He acknowledged the Immigration Service’s contributions to promoting peace and security throughout the state, particularly near the borders.

Elemide also commended the Command on the recent reforms introduced in the issuance of Nigerian passport, noting that many improvements had been made to the process and other services provided by the agency.

In their remarks, Wahab Haruna, Fola Salami and the Majority Leader Yusuf Sheriff, praised the Command’s accomplishments and called for a more proactive intervention in curbing illegal activities of some aliens around border areas in order to strengthen security along border communities.
