The youth wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has decried the recent killing of residents of Nimbo community in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State by suspected herdsmen.

Suspected herdsmen murdered Okeh Oruki, Okeh Chukwuemeka, Julius Odiegwu, and Gabriel Ezra, all indigenes of Nimbo on Sunday morning.

Addressing newsmen at a world press conference on Thursday in Abuja, the national youth leader of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu, flanked by other executive members of the youth wing, regretted that these suspected Fulani killer herdsmen and their enablers have continued this ethnic cleansing under the guise of a farmers/herders crisis.

According to the apex Igbo youth body, “hundreds have lost their lives, with thousands displaced from their homes; and to this day, not one individual has been arrested, indicted, or brought to justice.

“Government at all levels have failed to take responsibility, neither have they addressed the issue nor provided adequate succor to the victims. This is injustice.

“It is imperative to remind Nigerians that it was these same senseless killings and neglect of government responsibilities that brought about the unfortunate civil war that cost us a fortune”.

Ohanaeze youths, however, issued a seven-day ultimatum to the leadership of the Nigerian Police Force and sister security agencies to fish out the perpetrators or leave citizens with no choice but to take our destiny into our hands.

“Self-defense is a fundamental human right, and we shall leave no stone unturned in ensuring we are not victimized or undermined by anybody,” the Igbo youths posited.
