Nigerian troops have arrested a woman in possession of ammunition intended for delivery to a terrorist hideout in Zamfara State.

The woman, identified as Shamsiyya, was apprehended at a checkpoint while attempting to transport the package from Hanka to its final destination.

During interrogation, Shamsiyya confessed to being unaware of the contents of the package, which she was instructed to deliver.

“I was given the ammunition by a man I did not know,” she stated, describing the man as a Hausa individual. She also revealed that she was unaware that the package contained dangerous materials.

“I know the ammunition can kill someone, but I didn’t know what was inside the package,” she admitted.

Shamsiyya explained that she had received transport fare for the delivery but was not informed about the contents. She also expressed concern for her two children and stated that she did not want any harm to come to them.

Shamsiyya’s arrest comes amid ongoing efforts by security operatives to combat terrorism and criminal activities in the region.

The Nigerian military continues to strengthen its operations to curb the activities of insurgents in the northeast, including in areas like Zamfara, where attacks by armed groups have escalated in recent months.
