1. Governors elected on the platform of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rose from their meeting with a “strong advice” for the Umar Damagum-led National Working Committee (NWC) to call for the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party latest by February.

2. A fire outbreak at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, has destroyed property worth millions of naira. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, November 23, gutted the hospital’s Emergency and Accident Unit.

3. The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit has recovered unexploded military ordinances in Maiduguri. The police said the explosives were recovered on 22nd November, 2024, following reports from vigilant residents. Acting swiftly, the police said the Explosive Ordnance Disposal – Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear team was deployed to secure the affected areas.

4. The Northern Elders’ Forum (NEF), on Saturday, reaffirmed its rejection of the Tax Reform Bill. NEF described it as a policy “conceived in bad faith”, adding that it threatens national cohesion. The group criticised the manner of its implementation, alleging that key stakeholders, including members of the National Economic Council (NEC), were sidelined during the process.

5. Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested one suspected kidnapper said to be terrorising residents along the Enugwu-Ukwu Road in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State. The state police spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, in a press statement released on Saturday, said the joint security operatives arrested the suspect after engaging the gang in a gun duel.

6. An angry mob has set ablaze two yet-to-be-identified revenue collectors of the Anambra State Government for causing a tipper driver to ram and kill a bystander at the Old Market Road along Venn Road by Egerton Bus Stop in Onitsha, Anambra State. Eyewitnesses near the scene said on Saturday that the tipper driver lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the bystander as the revenue touts were dragging the steering of the vehicle with him.

7. Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have declared the just-concluded Edo governorship election as a rape of democracy. The governors also said they are still examining the documents in “Ondo elections where the APC manipulated results after openly buying votes.”

8. The Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation has pledged to comply with court rulings concerning the distribution of federal allocations to Rivers State amid ongoing legal disputes over the state’s financial entitlements. Bawa Mokwa, the Director of Press and Public Relations at the OAGF, stated that the government would comply with the notice of appeal and disburse the allocation.

9. Islamic morality police in the northern Nigerian city of Kano State say they are set to resume their crackdown on betting shops after a Supreme Court ruling on gambling. The Nigerian Supreme Court on Friday quashed a 2005 law that established a national lottery commission and legalised sports betting and gambling.

10. The National Examinations Council (NECO) has accredited additional foreign schools to write the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) and the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). This is contained in a statement by NECO’s Acting Director, Information and Public Relations, Mr Azeez Sani, on Saturday in Abuja. Sani said the development was aimed at broadening the Council’s horizon and expanding its global presence.
