Nigeria Police need help – Katsina Emir

The Emir of Katsina State, Dr. Abdulmumin Usman on Wednesday, called on Nigerians to join hands and help the police in battling crimes in the country for the sake of peace and prosperity of the country.

The Emir made the call in his palace during a courtesy call by the President of Police Officers Wives Association, Hajiya Hajara Ahmed Alkali.

The Katsina royal father also urged the federal government to further look into the welfare of the Nigerian police by providing modern equipments to help in tackling the security challenges in the country.

According to the Emir, Police officers are faced with dangers on daily basis. As such, there is need for Police Officers Wives to always remember their husbands in prayers and provide them with good advice and guidance concerning the risk involved in their daily operations.

“Let’s stand up and help the police. The police cannot do it alone. For the country to enjoy peace and make progress, we must all cooperate with the police by providing useful information to help its cause.”

“President Muhammadu Buhari has already started the process by providing uniforms and other essentials. We urge him to sustain the tempo by providing sophisticated equipment to help the police discharge their duties effectively,” Dr. Kabir said.

Aside equipping the police, the Katsina Emir also tasked the Nigerian government to take seriously the issue of citizens abiding by law and order in the country.

“From bottom to the top, the law must be allowed to take its course. Nobody should be seen to be above the law. This is what will make the country live at peace and prosper,” the Emir said.

On the purpose of her visit to the state, while at the emir’s palace, the Police First Lady and president of POWA said she is in the state primarily on three missions, which she says include: to enhance and give police children qualitative education, the establishment of a standard police hospital, and to bring succour to families of police officers killed in the line of duty.

Mrs Alkali said they were at the Emir’s palace to seek the royal father’s blessings concerning the planned empowerment programmes for the police officers wives in the state.

The POWA First Lady also paid a courtesy visit to the Daura Emirate and the police academy located in the Emirate.

The Galadima of Daura and District Head of Mai’adua local government, Ahmed Dedere Ahmadu, on behalf of the Emir, Alhaji Faruq Usman, who was unavoidably absent said the POWA First Lady can count on the emirate for absolute support in her mission concerning empowering the wives of Police Officers in the state.

On his part, the Principal of the Police Academy in Daura, SP Baffa, while welcoming the Police First Lady to the academy, said the institution which run a day system will do much more better if converted to a boarding system to meet the demands of several candidates from far interested in studying at the academy.

Mrs Alkali promised to raised the matter with the Inspector General of Police, Alkali Baba Usman. However, she advised the management of the academy to officially write to the headquarters on the matter.

The Police First Lady along with other highly powered POWA team arrived Katsina State on Wednesday, on a two day working visit targeted at bettering the lives of police officers wives in the state.
