NIGERIA: A Ticking Time Bomb Waiting To Explode By Wumi Akintide

If the report credited to the Nigerian First Lady on the social media that VP Ali Shettima is plotting to kill President Tinubu is true, and if the allegation or rumor by Sheikh Gumi that Onyesom Wike had to be removed by Tinubu to placate or appease the Northerners, and if the allegation that Wike, as FCT Minister has ordered for the demolition of a Mosque in Abuja for any reason, is true, I will agree with General Obasanjo that Nigeria is currently sitting on a ticking Time Bomb of ethnic rivalry and genocide which can go off at any time and would surely spell the end of Nigeria following a bitter civil war that would cost more lives than we lost in the Biafran War between 1967- 1970.

If we think the endless acrimony and Wars between the State of Israel and Palestinian/Hamas are bad enough, wait till you see how tribal and religious and ethnic tension are going to tear Nigeria apart forcing the 3 dominant Tribes of the Hausa/Fulani, the Ndigbos and the Yoruba and the Minorities of the South/ South and the Middle Belt and the Kanuris of the Northeast to swing at one another bringing to an abrupt end the fragile peace between the 6 Geo- political Zones of Nigeria much to our own peril.

Many British pundits and political philosophers have long predicted that Nigeria fraudulently put together by the 1914 Amalgamation Proclamation of Lord Lugard was a contraption and a marriage of expediency that would most likely unravel in 100 years or shortly thereafter.

My conjecture in this write-up is to submit that the prediction of those pundits is about to come true if the Power Brokers of Nigeria do not move quickly and fast enough to douse the fire on the Mountain and the inferno of tribal and religious distrust soon to engulf Nigeria.

I fear that something bad is going to happen to President Tinubu and his nascent and shaky Government in the aftermath of all the speculations mentioned above, in addition of course to the Economic Strangulation of Nigeria and the calamitous fall of the Nation’s Currency and the starvation unleashed on Nigeria by abject Poverty crippling starvation and economic penury and Unemployment.

I hate to
sound like an alarmist but I have a strong premonition that something ominously disastrous is about to come upon Nigeria, as we speak, sad to say.

I rest my case.
