The multi-billion naira Minna Township and the Bida Ring Road construction will generate N1.2trn after completion, the Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago, has said.

According to the governor, while the Minna township road’s project would generate N1trn, Bida Ring Road would generate N200bn revenue as the roads would open up the areas.

Bago spoke at the weekend in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Bologi.

He said the contract agreements had been signed with two construction firms, China Civil Engineering Construction Company and the Arab Construction Company.

The governor said the projects would gulp N200bn, adding that CCECC would handle the rehabilitation of township roads in Minna within 24 months, while Arab Construction Company, responsible for the construction of the Bida Ring Road, would complete it within 30 months.

He also explained that the Minna township projects would cover 100,000 square kilometers of land, while that of Bida Ring Road would cover 40,000 square kilometers.

While assuring the contractors of security, Bago warned that his government would not condone variation, as funds had already been earmarked for the projects with a 25 per cent advance payment guaranteed.

“The Minna and Bida Ring road contracts are expected to create direct job opportunities for 2,500 people while 12,000 people will have indirect jobs,” the governor said.

The Managing Director, CCECC, David Wang, and that of Arab Contractors, Mohammed Eledaruis, assured the government of timely completion of the projects.
