Newly appointed Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), Engr. Jennifer Adighije has identified enhancement of energy efficiency in the country as her cardinal objective.
Adighije assured that she will use her position and experience to enhance energy efficiency in the country in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Speaking during a handing over ceremony in Abuja, Adighije expressed conviction that Nigeria has the technology and human capital to optimize the objective of the NDPHC, which has the responsibility to execute and manage the nation’s Independent Power Projects (IPPs).
She said, “It is a privilege to serve and I will not take it for granted. The mandate of the NDPHC is crystal clear. Our mandate is to execute and manage our national IPP assets optimally.
“So my vision will be viewed around optimization anchored on three pillars which are optimization of the performance of our assets to ensure that we are able to improve significantly our revenue earning potential for building significant financial capacity.
“The second will be optimizing our processes to ensure we are able to drive organizational and operational efficiency, and number three, which for me is most critical is how we would leverage technology and human capital to drive positive change in the organization and our external stakeholders in particular.
“This number three is very crucial to me because our human capital is our greatest asset; our human capital is the powerhouse that will drive sustainable positive change.”
Adighije lauded her predecessor, Chiedu Ugbo, for working hard to reposition the company by turning it into a viable institution.
She, in the same vein, solicited for Ugbo’s continuous support for her and her team to improve on what they have inherited.
“Today is not a day for speeches, today is a day for us to celebrate this man who has already been able to hold and develop this organization.
“I look forward to working with these forward thinking talents as you can see represents a rich diversity of backgrounds, ready to deploy expertise and experience to propel this organization to greater heights.
“I therefore urge you all to give me and my team all the support that we need to ensure that we are able to align with Mr. President’s renewed hope agenda for accelerating our collective prosperity through energy efficiency,” the new NDPHC boss added.
Adighije graduated from the University of Lagos with a B.Sc in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. She proceeded to the Queen Mary University of London where she bagged her M.Sc in Wireless Networks and Telecommunications.
She worked as a transmission maintenance engineer at the now defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN).
