NDDC board holds inaugural retreat in Uyo

The Niger Delta Development Commission governing board will converge in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital for a three-day management retreat, starting from Thursday, January 19 till Saturday, January 21, 2023.

The event will take place at Ibom Icon Hotels and Golf Resort, Uyo and has the theme ‘Repositioning NDDC for Effective Service Delivery to Make a Difference’.

According to a press release signed by the Commission’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Ibitoye Abosede, the retreat will be declared open by the Honourable Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Umana Okon, and is aimed at acquainting board members with the activities of the commission to equip them with relevant information to perform their mandates successfully.

On Wednesday, January 4, 2023, the governing board of the NDDC was inaugurated with Lauretta Onochie, a former Special Assistant on New Media to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), as the chairman. Onochie represents Delta State on the board.

Dr. Samuel Ogbokwu from Bayelsa State was named as the Managing Director of the commission; Major-General Charles Airhiavbere (retd.) from Edo State, serves as the Executive Director, Finance; and Charles Ogunmola from Ondo State was named as the Executive Director, Projects.

Others include; Dr. Emem Willcox Wills (Akwa Ibom State); Dimgba Erugba (Abia State); Elder Denyanbofa Dimaro (Bayelsa State); Orok Duke (Cross River State); Gbenga Edema (Ondo State); Elekwachi Dimkpa (Rivers State); Alhaji Mohammed Kabir Abubakar (Nasarawa State); Alhaji Prince Sule-Ikoh representing North-Central Zone; Sani Sami (Kebbi State, North-West) and Prof. Tahir Mamman, SAN, (Adamawa State, North-East).
