The Youth O’clock Advancement Association, a youth leadership and development organization in Nasarawa State, has called on Governor Abdullahi Sule to appoint youths of proven worth as commissioners in his administration.
Their appeal came after Governor Sule dissolved his cabinet recently, including the Secretary to the State Government, with plans to reconstitute a new team in some weeks to inject more efficiency and ensure better performance.
While briefing newsmen, in Lafia on Monday, the association’s state coordinator Usman Adamu Galadima said involving youths in governance was very vital for national growth. Youths, he stated are significant pillars of development who should be taken along in cabinets to contribute maximally in the Sule-led administration.
“To this effect, Youth O’clock Nigeria, a vibrant and all-inclusive movement in the cause of youths, hereby strongly advocates for the inclusion of highly reputable, capable, and innovative youths in the forthcoming Executive Council; this would ensure inclusiveness, productivity, tolerance, and equity in the administration,” Galadima said.
He said such youth participation in government would help raise a new generation of leaders who are ready and prepared to take responsibilities and lead the state toward the future.
He further reiterated that members of the cabinet should be selected on the basis of competence, experience, exposure, commitment, and integrity so that there is productive and efficient governance.
