The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Ibrahim Abdullahi, has urged the new leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to bring back aggrieved members of the party who left during the party primaries in the state.

This, the speaker said, is in the interest of the party and for the overall development of the state.

Abdullahi gave the charge when he led other APC members of the House on a congratulatory visit to the new officials of the party in Lafia on Monday.

He appreciated Governor Abdullahi Sule and other party leaders for electing Aliyu Bello as chairman and Yarus Dagusa as secretary of the party in the state.

The speaker informed them that the APC as a political party was yet to recover from the crisis occasioned by party primaries.

“I urge you to bring back the aggrieved members who left in order to develop our party ahead of future elections.

“We believe in your capability and capacity, as you have all that it takes to deliver. You are the right person for the job at the moment in order to take our great party, APC, to the next level of development.

“Mr Chairman, we are all aware of what happened during the party primaries, where some people left the party either due to injustice done to them or fairness was not done to them.

“They left to contest for election in other parties. I want to appeal to you to bring back all aggrieved members of our party who left the party,” he charged.

Abdullahi said APC is the party of the people, and its lost glory must be restored no matter what it takes.

He assured the new leadership of the party of their loyalty and support to succeed.

Besides, the speaker pleaded with the opposition parties to support Sule’s administration to succeed.

“We have concluded our defence at the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal; I have no doubt in my mind that victory is ours,” he added.

The speaker also called on the people of the state to support the present administration to succeed and to enjoy more dividends of democracy.

Responding, Aliyu Bello, the state APC chairman, appreciated the speaker and other members for the visit.

“Mr Speaker, you are a record-breaker and pacesetter, as you are the first speaker to be elected three times in the state.

“As a party, we hold you and other members of the House in high esteem,” the chairman said.

Bello expressed happiness that the leadership crisis that rocked the state legislature had been resolved amicably.

The APC chairman assured of his readiness to reconcile all warring factions in the interest of the party.

He, however, advised the lawmakers to work in unity while promising to partner with them for the overall development of the state.
