The Nasarawa State House of Assembly (NSHA) has officially confirmed Abubakar Odah Akum as commissioner and member of the State Executive Council (SEC), representing the Nasarawa Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
Ibrahim Abdullahi Balarabe, Speaker of the House, made the announcement during the plenary session on Wednesday in Lafia.
Newspot reported that the house had asked Akum to submit 30 copies of his curriculum vitae (CV) before the close of work on October 10 and to appear before the house for screening on October 11.
Following his appearance for screening, the Majority Leader of the House, Mohammed Omadefu (APC, Keana), moved a motion for the confirmation of the commissioner-nominee, which was seconded by the House Minority Leader, Luka Zhekaba ( PDP, Obi II).
The House unanimously screened and confirmed the commissioner-nominee after the two lawmakers from Nasarawa LGA, Onarigu Onah Kana (SDP, Udege/Loko) and Hajara Danyaro Ibrahim (APC, Nasarawa Central), gave good testimonies and confirmed the capability of the nominee to deliver.
“We hereby confirm the nomination of Hon Abubakar Odah Akum as commissioner and member of the State Executive Council,” Balarabe said.
Governor Sule had nominated Akum to fill the position of commissioner to replace Ahmed Aliyu Tijani, who was appointed the Federal Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) by President Tinubu.
