The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has announced that its forthcoming national convention, would hold from February 20th to 23rd, 2025, in Abuja.
This was contained in a statement jointly signed by President of the Senate, Comrade Henry Okunomo and the Senate Clerk, Abdulyekinn Odunayo, on Saturday.
According to the statement, the decision was unanimously agreed upon by all Student Union Government (SUG) Presidents who served as delegates at the just-concluded NANS 75th Senate sitting/Pre-convention.
The statement disclosed that the convention would
deliberate on pressing issues affecting the student community and also witness the election of new national officers, who will steer the affairs of NANS for the next one year.
The statement reads, “As the student community prepares for this momentous occasion, it is essential to reflect on the significance of NANS in promoting the interests of Nigerian students.
“The association has consistently demonstrated its commitment to advocating for the welfare and rights of students, and this convention will undoubtedly reinforce this resolve.
“The choice of Abuja as the host city for the convention is also noteworthy, given the city’s strategic importance as the nation’s capital. This decision is expected to facilitate greater collaboration and engagement between student leaders, policymakers, and other stakeholders.
“The forthcoming NANS national convention promises to be a watershed moment for the student community, and all hands must be on deck to ensure its success.
“As the student community converges in Abuja, it is essential to remain focused on the core objectives of the convention, which are centered on promoting the welfare, rights, and interests of Nigerian students.”
