The song was written as a tribute to the lead actor of the first Black Panther movie, Chadwick Boseman, who passed away in 2020 after a long battle with colon cancer at age 43.

The Golden Globe’s nominees’ list was announced on Monday, December 12, and Tems could hardly believe that she was nominated for the award.

Reacting to the news, Tems tweeted, “My God!! this one is too much.”

Tems, who in a series of Twitter threads addressed those she claims are trying to put her in a box, said she will not satisfy them in that area.

She added that she puts so much work into her craft and she’s proud of how far she has come, but she’s not one to brag.
