Some Muslim leaders in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, have ordered the closure of the Ogbomoso Central Mosque at Oka’gbo, Newspot reports.
Newspot reports that the Muslim leaders took the decision on Thursday due to the controversy surrounding the selection of the Chief Imam of the town, Sheikh Teliat Yinus Oluwasina Ayilara.
Newspot gathered that those who are against the selection of Ayilara said he is not from the town.
Our correspondent learnt that the move by the Muslim leaders was to prevent Ayilara from conducting the Jumat service today.
It was learnt that they took the decision so as to prevent breakdown of law and order.
A source, who bagged not to be named, said the leaders who took the decision included the Aare Musulumi of Ogbomosoland, Alhaji Abdulganiy Atanda Owodunni; the Asoju Musulumi, Alhaji Minkaheel Yussuf; the Balogun Musulumi, Alhaji Abdulrasaq Bello; and other notable leaders.
The leaders, therefore, urged Muslims in the community to observe the Jumat service in mosques close to their respective residences today pending the final determination of the matter.
