Hafsat Dahiru, a mother of six, has called on both the Taraba State governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas and the State Commissioner of Police, David lloyanomon, to order the release of her husband.
Musa Dahiru, who is a staff of the State Ministry of Agriculture, was said to have been arrested for allegedly condemning the appointment of the new Chief of Takum on social media.
An audio, which has been trending on social media, was alleged to have criticised the governor for dancing to the dictate of retired General T. Y Danjuma, by allowing the traditional stool of Takum council to be rotated among the three major tribes in the council.
The wife, who is a mother of six, has now cried out, begging for her husband’s release.
She told journalists that, “my six children are dying of hunger as there is nobody to provide food for them since the arrest of my husband three weeks ago.
“As you can see, two of my children lying there have been sick and I have no kobo to take them to the hospital or even buy panadol for them.”
With tears streaming down her eyes, she passionately pleaded with the governor to temper justice with mercy.
In a swift reaction, the Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communication to the governor, Emmanuel Bello, denied the involvement of the governor on Dahiru’s detention.
“My boss that I know very well cannot descend too low to direct the police to arrest anyone.
“I think the police may be performing their duties but not on the directive of the Governor,” he said.
When reached for comments, the police, through its Acting Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Gambo Kwache, denied arresting and detaining any person bearing such name.
