A former All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has urged the police to thoroughly investigate the circumstances leading to the death of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly called Mohbad.

He said this in a statement by his media office on Wednesday.

He sympathized with the deceased singer’s family and friends, saying he had become a “Martyr of a cause in a unique way”.

He said Mohbad’s death had “highlighted the terror that the grip of the underworld on our streets inflicts on the society.”

Olawepo-Hashim said as a father whose son is into arts and music and only two years older than the late ‘Kopoke’ singer, he was worried about the grip of cult leaders and drug lords on the music and entertainment industry.

He added that poverty was used to exploit the up-and-coming stars by the rich, rough and wicked. He bemoaned the absence of a well-structured and disciplined support system for building talents from poor homes.

He also urged the security agencies to protect youths demanding justice and organising vigils.
