Mohamed Salah has once again suggested that this will be his last year at Liverpool as negotiations continue to stall surrounding a new contract.

Salah has enjoyed one of his best seasons since arriving at Anfield in 2017,notching up a remarkable 17 goals and 13 assists in 18 Premier League appearances so far this campaign.

His contributions have helped guide Arne Slot’s side to a six-point lead at the top of the table at the halfway stage of the season.

However, the Egyptian has now entered the final six months of his contract at Anfield and is now able to speak with foreign clubs about signing on a free next summer.

The 32-year-old has repeatedly vented his frustation about the lack of progress over a new deal and once more suggested that both parties remain ‘far away’ from agreeing terms.

Speaking ahead of his side’s clash with Manchester United, Salah insisted that he is not letting contract talks distract him from his main goal of helping Liverpool win the title for the first time since the 2019/20 season.

‘We didn’t celebrate the one we won with the club the way we wanted,’ he told Sky Sports. ‘And also coming back here, it’s my last year in the club, so you want to do something special for the city. That was the thing in my head.’

Pressed on whether he believes this will be his last season at Liverpool, Salah replied: ‘So far yes, last six months. There is no progress there, we are far away from any progress. So we just need to wait and see.

‘The thing in my head is, if it’s your last six months or year, what do you want to see in the future?

‘Do you want to look back and say I was concerned about the contract or stressed? I just want to say I had an unbelievable season.

‘That’s in my head now. If I feel kind of distracted, I remind myself that I want to look back and say I had an unbelievable season. That’s what I want to do.’
