Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has described ongoing work on the newly-reconstructed runaway of the Minna Airport at Maikunkele, a suburb of the state capital, as shabby and below standard.

Expressing discontent during a visit to assess the level of work on the runway at Maikunkele, a suburb of Minna, the state capital, Bago decried the poor quality of work by the firm handling the reconstruction work.

He stated, “This work is shabby, the contractor has failed to meet the required standard of the contract despite the funds he had received.”

Bago immediately directed the contractor to return to the site and fix the runway to the agreed standard based on the agreement entered, as the state is earnestly preparing to receive guests for the upcoming Green Economy Summit.

The summit is fixed for October 24 and 25, 2023.
