Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has eight players on a transfer wishlist including Nico Williams and Leroy Sane, according to reports.
Arteta is keen to prioritise a new wide attacker in the January window after Bukayo Saka suffered a hamstring injury, the Daily Mail have reported.
Athletic Bilbao winger Williams, 22, is currently Arteta’s No.1 choice with a deal thought to be within Arsenal’s budget due to his £48m release clause.
A move for Williams in January would be tricky, though, given Arsenal are almost certain to face competition from other clubs for the Spanish star.
It is also uncertain if Williams would be willing to depart Athletic Bilbao midway through a season and may be more keen on a summer switch.
Bayern Munich winger Sane is a second option for Arteta, although he is seen as less desirable due to his age, 28, with Arsenal aware that he would not be a long-term investment.
The third player on Arteta’s wishlist is Real Madrid’s 19-year-old wonderkid Arda Guler – but a move is thought to be highly unlikely at this current stage with the Spanish champions viewing the teen as a key part of their future.
Arteta has also added Beyer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz to his transfer wishlist amid the 21-year-old’s impressive performances in the Bundesliga.
As well as wide forward to fill in for Saka, Arsenal are considering signing a new striker too.
Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak is Arsenal’s No.1 choice but a January switch is thought to be incredibly difficult.
The other three strikers Arsenal are considering include RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo and Wolves’ Matheus Cunha.
The Gunners are long-term admirers of Cunha and have been ‘impressed by his performances’ this term, The Athletic reported on Boxing Day.
Cunha has performed very well in the Premier League this season, conjuring up 10 goals and four assists across 19 top-flight games.
