Mike Tyson and Jake Paul have both promised knockout wins when they square off in Texas on Friday night.
58-year-old Tyson built a career on devastating knockouts, becoming the youngest heavyweight champion in history when he blasted through Trevor Berbick to claim the WBC crown in 1986.
‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ went onto be involved in some of the biggest and most brutal bouts of the division’s golden era in the 1990s, sharing the ring with Evander Holyfield, Frank Bruno, ‘Razor’ Ruddock and Lennox Lewis during his storied career.
Paul’s background couldn’t be more different. Boxing’s disruptor-in-chief has become one of the sport’s biggest names in just 12 professional fights, making his name with a string of thrilling knockout wins over former MMA fighters before suffering defeat to Tommy Fury in 2023.
What is Mike Tyson’s boxing record and when was his last fight?
Tyson’s last professional fight was 19 years ago, quitting at the start of the seventh round against little-known Irish heavyweight Kevin McBride in June 2005.
At that point in his career, Tyson’s appetite for boxing had long gone and later admitted he only took the fight for the payday. It was his third defeat in four fights having been thoroughly outclassed by Lewis in 2002 – a defeat that signalled the end of Tyson’s time at the top of the division.
