The 52-year-old left Chelsea on Tuesday by mutual agreement after just 11 months in charge and he is thought to be keen to jump straight back into a new challenge.
Although the west London club had a difficult campaign, they finished the season with five straight victories to secure a place in Europe and also made the final of the Carabao Cup and the semi-final of the FA Cup.
In the end, it was a largely positive season for Pochettino especially when the club’s avalanche of injuries are factored in and the huge turnover of players that happened in the summer window.
Pochettino is believed to have left on good terms, with both the club’s hierarchy and the manager himself simply having different visions for how to take the team forward.
The job he did at Chelsea, particularly given the rather testing circumstances, has not damaged his stock and a host of clubs – and national teams – are keen to speak to him.
According to The Times, he could be in the frame to take the Manchester United job if Ten Hag is relieved of his duties following the FA Cup final.
Although Chelsea spent much of the season trailing United in the Premier League table, they finished three points and two places higher while also scoring 20 more goals.
New minority owners Ineos are thought to be fans of Pochettino and the Argentine would be interested in talking to United if the job becomes available.
The Red Devils did actually look at Pochettino two years ago before opting for Ten Hag while legendary former manager Sir Alex Ferguson has long been keen to see the ex-PSG boss in the Old Trafford dugout and courted him during his time at Tottenham.
United is unlikely to be the only potential destination for Pochettino, however, with The Telegraph reporting that he will be one of the leading candidates for the England job if Gareth Southgate decides to step down after Euro 2024.
Pochettino would likely be open to the role, though much will rest on this summer’s tournament in Germany with Southgate more inclined to continue in the hotseat up until the 2026 World Cup if the Three Lions can win the Euros.
The Argentine was actually asked about potentially succeeding Southgate two years ago and told The Athletic: ‘Of course, my relationship with England has always been very good.
‘We have a very good relationship with the academies, trying to develop young players for the national team. I feel so comfortable here. You never know what happens. I am open to everything.’
Pochettino has also been linked with a move to Bayern Munich, though the German giants are thought to be pressing ahead with talks for Burnley boss Vincent Kompany.
