Mason Greenwood, Bukayo Saka and William Saliba named on final shortlist for Golden Boy award

Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood and Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and William Saliba have been named on the final 20-man shortlist for the 2021 Golden Boy award.

England international and Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham is also on the list alongwide Barcelona starlets Gavi and Pedri.

Tottenham winger Bryan Gil is also among the finalists.

Greenwood has gone from strength to strength with United in 2021 after coming 12th in the 2020 rankings, behind Manchester City’s Phil Foden, new United signing Jadon Sancho and eventual winner, Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.

The 20-year-old started the new season with three goals in his first three appearances.

Saka meanwhile has been a driving force at Arsenal over the last year with Saliba earning plaudits away from north London.

The Frenchman is still to play a competitive game for the Gunners since joining them for a £27m fee in 2019.

The defender has had spells on loan back in France with Saint-Etienne, Nice and Marseille.

The Golden Boy award is given to the best young footballer under the age of 21 playing in Europe’s top leagues with Wayne Rooney, Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, Paul Pogba, Kylian Mbappe and Matthijs de Ligt among its past winners.
