United have already beaten Melbourne Victory and Crystal Palace during their trip Down Under, while Villa have downed Leeds and Brisbane Roar.

The start of the Premier League season is just two weeks away, so both Erik ten Hag and Steven Gerrard will be hoping to see plenty from their teams as they near competitive action.

The match kicks off at 10.45am UK time on Saturday 23 July at the Optus Stadium in Perth, Australia.

Manchester United vs Aston Villa team news

New Manchester United signings Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez are not on the trip to Australia so fans will have to wait to see them in Manchester Unitd shirts.

Scott McTominay is not fully fit so is unlikely to be risked in this one, although James Garner may get a run out for the first time in pre-season.

Another youngster, Will Fish, was sent off in the last friendly against Crystal Palace, but he is available to play.

Villa boss Steven Gerrard has suggested he will be fielding a strong team, saying: ‘We’re a couple of weeks out from the start of the season, so we need to turn the dial now and we’ll introduce slightly more game-time to certain individuals. It’s the right time, they’re ready now. They’ve had enough volume in their legs so that we can really push certain individuals.

‘It gives us another opportunity to rehearse the team, the style and how we want to play, so it’s a really important game for us.’
