Manchester United winger Amad Diallo is set to join Birmingham City on loan for the remainder of the season after holding talks with Ralf Rangnick over his future at the club.

The Ivorian joined the Red Devils in a £36million deal from Atalanta in 2020 but he’s made just nine appearances for the club, scoring once.

While much is still expected of Diallo in his career, it’s clear that competition for places in wide areas is fierce at Old Trafford with the likes of Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood at Rangnick’s disposal.

The German has therefore given Diallo permission to leave the club and the Mirror claim the winger, his representatives and United have decided on Birmingham is the best option.

United sent Tahith Chong on loan to St Andrew’s last summer and the Dutchman was impressing in Birmingham before a recent injury sidelined him.

The Red Devils have been happy with Birmingham’s treatment of Chong, with the winger playing 13 times before his injury.

That helped the Blues bag Teden Mengi on loan earlier this week and United believe the club can help Diallo in his development.
