Senior coaches within Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s staff have raised concerns about Donny van de Beek’s suitability for life in the Premier League.

The Dutchman joined United for around £34million in 2020, with United seeing off competition from Real Madrid and Tottenham for his signature.

However, the 24-year-old’s managed just starts in the Premier League since arriving in England and he’s been limited to just two starts in all competitions so far this term.

United put Van de Beek on a conditioning programme last summer in an attempt to bulk up the Dutchman so that he’s better prepared for the physicality of the Premier League.

But the Athletic claim members of Solskjaer’s coaching staff still have concerns about Van de Beek’s ability to adapt to the rigours of English football.

There are no concerns over Van de Beek’s ability and Solskjaer still believe in the midfielder’s chances of making it at Old Trafford.

But van de Beek’s patience is running thin and he’s questioning his future at the club ahead of the January transfer window.

Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Van de Beek but he would not be short of suitors should United make it clear they’re willing to listen to offers for the Netherlands international.
