United beat the likes of Liverpool and Real Madrid to sign French starlet Yoro from Lille over the summer in a deal worth more than £50m.
Yoro, 18, signed a five-year deal at Old Trafford and was expected to at least challenge for a starting berth in the Manchester United team this season until he suffered an injury in a pre-season game against Arsenal.
United expected to be without Yoro until mid-October after the injury required surgery and Erik ten Hag said last week he should return ‘soon’.
Yoro faces competition at United from the likes of Lisandro Martinez, Harry Maguire and fellow summer signing Matthijs de Ligt, but the club’s former striker Louis Saha clearly believes he has what it takes to force his way into the team and become a star in the Premier League.
‘I think Leny Yoro has the ability to establish himself in the Manchester United defence very quickly,’ Saha told CryptoCasinosUK. ‘He’s the type of player that is dangerous in both boxes, and he’s very comfortable on the ball.
‘I think he will be a good fit for the Premier League because he has all the attributes you need to be a success.
‘Let’s also remember that he is still a really young player. He’s going to need a bit of time to improve his physicality, and he will need to improve tactically.
‘He’ll make mistakes, but that’s part of the process. If he works on what he has, then I don’t see any reason why he can’t blossom into one of the best defenders in the Premier League eventually.
‘He can play in a back three. He gives ten Hag flexibility if he wanted to play with a three.
‘When Manchester United signed him, I thought it was a very exciting signing. I thought they did really well to get him because every single top club in Europe wanted him.’
Yoro picked up an unfortunate metatarsal injury during Manchester United’s pre-season clash with Arsenal in the United States.
Discussing his potential return, Ten Hag said last week: ‘He is doing very well.
‘It is very pleasing that his rehab is going in the right direction and I expect him soon, but what I mean by soon, is that he is now in the right planning process.
‘He is in the right spot and he will return as soon as possible into the squad and then the team training.’
Yoro only made 60 appearances for his former club Lille but impressed enough to attract interest from Liverpool and Real Madrid as well as his current team Manchester United.
He has watched on from the sidelines as United have made a poor start to the 2024-25 season, winning just two of their six Premier League games to slip to 13th in the table.
