Manchester United have set a deadline for the deal to sign Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount to be completed.
United saw an opening bid of £40m rejected last week with an improved offer of £45m plus £5m in add-ons also turned away on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old England international is in the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge with Erik ten Hag making him a top transfer target.
It is thought that United have reached a breakthrough in talks with Chelsea and are close to agreeing a £60m move for Mount.
But United want the deal to be completed quickly and have set a deadline for the end of next week, according to reports.
The Red Devils are set to launch a third bid for Mount but have warned Chelsea that they ‘won’t keep negotiating for too long’ despite agreeing personal terms.
United will switch their focus to signing Brighton star Moises Caicedo if they end their interest in signing Mount from Chelsea.
Arsenal saw two bids for Caicedo rejected in January – with the Gunners reportedly cooling their interest because Declan Rice is their top priority.
But United are linked to Rice too and have reportedly submitted an opening offer of £40m plus two players for the West Ham star.
United are having somewhat of a midfield revamp and are looking to offload both Fred and Scott McTominay this summer.
