Manchester City star Phil Foden has lavished praise on Manchester United wonderkid Mason Greenwood by describing the forward as the ‘best’ finisher he’s ever seen.

The 18-year-old took his tally for the season to 15 goals with a brace in United’s 5-2 win against Bournemouth on Saturday.

Greenwood is just one of a number of promising young England players to make their breakthrough this term, with the likes of Bukayo Saka, Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham enjoying fine campaigns.

Foden is arguably the most promising of that group and the midfielder is finally establishing himself as a City regular after two years waiting in the wings under Pep Guardiola.

Foden was not loaned out with the 20-year-old preferring to stay at the Etihad to learn from the likes of David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero.

However, despite the wealth of talent at City, Foden says Greenwood is the best finisher he’s come across in his career.

‘Mason Greenwood is the best I’ve seen finishing wise,’ Foden told Premier League Productions.

‘He’s both-footed in and around the box. He’s always going to score.

‘It’s just the right type of shot — he just knows when to finesse or lace it. The keeper’s never stable or set’.

United have long known about Greenwood’s potential but he’s been carefully managed at the Theatre of Dreams.

The forward signed a new long-term deal at the club last October, despite receiving a ‘life-changing’ offer from Juventus earlier in 2019.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer described the teenager as the best finisher he’s worked with following the win against the Cherries and even suggested he could be the best he’s seen in his career, which would put him ahead of the likes of Ruud van Nistelrooy, Eric Cantona and Wayne Rooney.
