Graeme Souness believes Mason Mount will be a ‘very good player’ for Manchester United following his £60m summer move from Chelsea.

Mount ended his 18-year association with Chelsea by becoming Erik ten Hag’s first signing of the 2023 summer transfer window.
The 24-year-old made 195 appearances for Chelsea – helping his boyhood club win the Champions League in 2021 – and has earned 36 caps for England.
Souness says he has ‘always liked’ Mount and expects him to flourish at Manchester United, who have also signed Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund this summer.
‘I have always liked Mount, there is nothing to dislike about him,’ Souness told the Daily Mail.
‘He has great technique and works his socks off. He is also leaving a big club to join, arguably, the biggest club.
‘But he has shown he can handle the expectation of playing for Chelsea and England and, if he takes to his new surroundings at Old Trafford, he could be a star.
‘He needs to get more goals playing that far up the field. And he can, because he’s cute enough in those areas.
‘His record at Chelsea was one in six, which is good, but the challenge is to make that even better. I think he will be a very good player for Manchester United.’
In Ten Hag’s first season at Old Trafford, Manchester United finished third in the Premier League last season and won the League Cup.
The Red Devils begin their 2023-24 campaign on Monday night against Wolves.
