Manchester United are prepared to sign Jack Grealish alongside Jadon Sancho but the Aston Villa midfielder has been told he may not be a regular starter under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, according to reports.

United have made Sancho their priority target for the summer but after securing their place in next season’s Champions League, Solskjaer is expected to have additional funds to work with.

According to The Independent, United had initially cooled their interest in Grealish over the last few months but Solskjaer has now reconsidered after realising that his squad was short of options during the Premier League run-in.

The report also claims that Grealish is keen on a move to Old Trafford but the midfielder ‘has been made aware’ that he may not be guaranteed to start every week if he joins United.

Aston Villa, meanwhile, are expected to demand in excess of £50 million for their captain after he played an instrumental role in keeping the club in the Premier League.

United are likely to have in excess of £100m to spend but a large portion of their budget will be put towards their bid for Sancho.

Villa manager Dean Smith said on Sunday that Grealish’s future will be resolved within the next month and warned United that the midfielder will not be sold in a cut-price deal.

‘I have said many times before we have billionaire owners,’ Smith said after Villa’s 1-1 draw with West Ham.

‘If people want to come and get our best players they will cost an awful lot of money.

‘He is an Aston Villa fan and will be immensely proud he scored the goal today which kept us in the Premier League.’

The 24-year-old played a pivotal part in Villa’s push for Premier League survival with eight goals and six assists in 36 appearances.
