Moukoko, 18, is viewed as one of the most exciting talents in world football, having already made more than 50 appearances for Dortmund and making his international debut.
The Cameroon-born star appears to be following in the footsteps of the likes of Erling Haaland, Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham, who all starred for Dortmund before attracting interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
Such has been Moukoko’s rise in the Bundesliga, the teenager was named in Germany’s World Cup squad, making his debut in the tournament in the group game against Japan.
Moukoko could leave Borussia Dortmund for free next summer so the German giants will consider selling him in January unless they can tie him down to a new long-term deal.
It was reported earlier this week that Chelsea were ‘hopeful’ of signing Moukoko and were considering make a January swoop for the highly-talented forward.
But The Times say Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Manchester United and Liverpool are both firmly in the race to sign Moukoko.
The player does not want his development to stall so is wary about leaving Borussia Dortmund only for his career to stagnate.
But a big-money move to a Premier League giant would surely be too appealing to turn down for a player expected to lead the line for Germany in the future.
Chelsea were looking to bolster Graham Potter’s attacking options before Armando Broja suffered a season-ending injury but the blow could accelerate Todd Boehly’s transfer plans.
Manchester United are looking to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, having also been linked with World Cup stars Cody Gakpo and Goncalo Ramos.
Liverpool, meanwhile, will be without Luis Diaz for around another three months, leaving Jurgen Klopp’s squad depleted as he looks to guide the Anfield club back up the Premier League table.
Moukoko addressed the mounting speculation over his future at a Germany press conference last month and said: ‘I feel very comfortable in Dortmund, I feel the confidence of the coach. You’ll find out in the end whether I decide to stay or not.’
