The Egyptian star has started this season in fine form with six goals in his opening seven Premier League matches as Liverpool find themselves at the top of the table going into the international break.
The 29-year-old gave Liverpool a 2-1 lead at Anfield on Sunday thanks to his jinking run and ferocious strike before the Reds were again pegged back by a deflected shot from Kevin De Bruyne as the spoils were shared.
Ferdinand believes that there is no better player in the league than Salah right now and hailed the impact he has had on the team’s successes in recent years.
‘He’s the best player in the Premier League right now. It’s bunning my chest talking like this about a Liverpool player,’ he said on Vibe on Five.
’[His goal} was like being on FIFA, that chop, I’ve done that many times on Fifa where you pretend to whip it top corner and then you chop it back. Playground skills.
‘Salah is scoring goals that is helping Liverpool win premier League and Champions League titles.’
The former Manchester United centre-back has also praised Liverpool’s second-half improvement in Sunday’s game, describing them as a ‘different animal’ after the break.
‘What I like about Liverpool was they started terribly, and they reacted at half time, came out a different animal. The first half Liverpool couldn’t get out and City could have had 2 or 3 first half, I think City will be disappointed not to win and Liverpool happy with a draw,’ he added.
