Manchester United have reportedly identified three right-backs who could be signed in January to replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Aside from a new centre-forward to fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo, Erik ten Hag’s priority when the transfer window reopens is to bring in a new right-back to provide competition for Diogo Dalot.

Dalot has been a near-ever present for Ten Hag this season, with Wan-Bissaka by comparison handed just four minutes of competitive football, with Ten Hag previously hinting that the 25-year-old’s time at Old Trafford is up.

It’s not clear if United will be able to move the defender on given that they want to recoup as much of the £50million they paid Crystal Palace for him three years ago as possible.

Nevertheless, they will aim to sign his replacement in January and according to Sky Sports Germany, their search is down to three players playing across Europe.

Top of the shortlist is French prospect Malo Gusto who burst onto the scene just under two years ago and at just 19 is already an established part of Lyon’s side.

Gusto’s contract expires in 2024 and has already been garnering interest from the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham.

The next name on the list is Jeremie Frimpong, who was part of the Netherlands’ 2022 World Cup squad alongside United star Tyrell Malacia, though he did not feature in Qatar and is yet to be capped at senior level.

The 22-year-old came through Manchester City’s academy and is currently thriving at Bayer Leverkusen, but while he has been linked with Old Trafford before a move could prove difficult given his long term contract with the Bundesliga club.

The final name is a well-known one with speculation linked Denzel Dumfries to the Premier League only growing after a brilliant showing in Qatar.

But he would prove to be an expensive option with Inter Milan reportedly slapping a €50million (£43m) price tag on the 26-year-old.

With the World Cup drawing to an end, there is not long to go before the Red Devils are back in action, with Ten Hag’s side set to take on Burnley on December 21st in the Carabao cup.
