Berrada will take the reins at Old Trafford this summer.

Manchester United have confirmed Omar Berrada’s start date in what will be a pivotal summer of change at Old Trafford.

United confirmed the appointment of Berrada as their new chief executive in January, bringing in the Spaniard from rivals Manchester City in the first major move of the Sir Jim Ratcliffe era.

Berrada’s departure from City was believed to be amicable but a significant notice period before taking the reins at United was expected.

In a statement announcing a series of changing to its executive leadership, United have confirmed their new CEO will officially begin his duties on 13 July.

United’s current interim CEO Patrick Stewart will leave the club at the end of the season and will be replaced by Jean-Claude Blanc until Berrada’s arrival in July. Blanc joined the United board after Ratcliffe’s minority takeover alongside Sir David Brailsford.

United’s Chief Financial Officer Cliff Baty will also leave at the end of the season when he will be replaced by Roger Bell.

Joel Glazer said: ‘I would like to thank Patrick and Cliff for their dedicated service to Manchester United and wish them well for the future.

‘Both have been a source of invaluable advice and expertise over many years, and Patrick has served an important role as interim CEO during this transitional phase.’

Sir Jim Ratcliffe said: ‘I would like to personally thank both Patrick and Cliff for their support in helping us get to know the club and making us feel welcome and I respect their decisions to now move on as we establish a new management team for the club.’

Having assumed control of football operations, Ratcliffe and INEOS have also appointed Jason Wilcox as the club’s new technical director with his work in introducing a new game model on the pitch already underway.

United also hope to name Dan Ashworth their new sporting director as negotiations between the club and Newcastle United continue.

Ashworth was placed on gardening leave in February and are believed to be holding out for a compensation fee of around £20million.

Latest reports suggest Ashworth is now set to take the Magpies to arbitration proceedings to push through the move to Manchester.
