Malang Sarr has praised fellow defenders Andreas Christensen and Trevoh Chalobah for helping him make an immediate impact on his Premier League debut for Chelsea.

With Thiago Silva and Antonio Rudiger both unavailable, 22-year-old Sarr was brought in as part of a back three alongside Chalobah, also 22, and Christensen, the elder statesman of the trio at 25.

While goalkeeper Edouard Mendy was the man of the match after making a string of superb saves in the final third of the game, Chelsea’s back three also played their role as the Blues held onto a 1-0 win that sent them back to the top of the Premier League.

Speaking to Chelsea TV after the match, Sarr hailed his fellow defenders, insisting they made stepping into the starting XI ‘real easy’.

‘These two are really smart,’ he said of Christensen and Chalobah.

‘It is really easy for me to adapt to them and to talk to them because they are really close to each other and they really want to help the team win.

‘As soon as you are a team player it is real easy for you to step in and just fit with them.’
