Former President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday visited Maiduguri, Borno State over the recent flooding in the state.
Buhari was received at the Maiduguri airport by Governor Babagana Zulum, Senator Ali Ndume, and other political leaders in the state.
Recently, a massive flood hit Maiduguri leading to the death of several people and the destruction of properties worth millions.
But, according to a statement by his former media aide, Garba Shehu, Buhari went to pay respects to the Shehu of Borno as part of his visit to the state.
The statement reads: “Former President Muhammadu Buhari just landed in Maiduguri, Borno State, into the warm hands of Governor Babagana Zulum, Senator Ali Ndume and other political and government leaders in the state.
“The former president was away on vacation when the state suffered the recent devastating floods and is here to personally commiserate with the Shehu of Borno, the government, and the people of the state following the tragic incident.
“Former President Muhammadu Buhari is now on a sympathy visit to His Royal Majesty, the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn Umar Garba Al Amin El-Kanemi.”
