Liverpool have made contact with Eintracht Frankfurt over a move for Jesper Lindstrom, who is also a target for the likes of Arsenal, Juventus, Tottenham and Newcastle, according to reports.
The 23-year-old has been a big hit at Frankfurt since arriving from Brondby in 2021, making 77 appearances in just two seasons and scoring 14 goals.
He was part of the team that won the Europa League last year and was voted the Bundesliga Rookie of the Year in the same season.
Arsenal were linked with a move for the Denmark international back in April and there have been more and more clubs entering the race for his signature.
Danish publication Ekstra Bladet (via Sport Witness) report that Liverpool have been in contact with Frankfurt, while Arsenal, Newcastle, Spurs, Juventus, Inter Milan and Napoli all hold an interest in the Frankfurt star.
RB Leipzig are the side who have made their interest most concrete, bidding around £22m for Lindstrom earlier this summer, although their offer was rejected.
Frankfurt reportedly want around £35m-40m for Lindstrom, which does not sound out of the question given how much interest there is in him from across Europe.
Liverpool have already brought in Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai this summer, but Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that they want to make more signings before the start of the season after a string of departures from midfield.
Jordan Henderson has moved to Saudi Arabia and Fabinho is set to follow, while James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita all left at the end of their contracts.
Speaking on the club’s We Are Liverpool podcast, Klopp said: ‘Still around three to four weeks until the first game of the season, a few things have to happen until then. Definitely. Transfer market-wise as well, that’s clear now.
‘It will happen, and we will have a good team.’
