Lionel Messi was delighted to add ‘one more’ Copa America trophy to his collection after Argentina beat Colombia in extra time to win the tournament for a record 16th time.
The final, which was delayed by 80 minutes because of crowd trouble outside the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, appeared to be heading to penalties before Lautaro Martinez popped up with the only goal in the second-half of extra time.
Argentina captain Messi was forced off with an ankle injury on 66 minutes and broke down in tears as he left the pitch and sat on the bench.
But Messi’s agony soon turned to joy as Argentina scored late to down Colombia and win their third trophy in three years.
The morning after Argentina’s triumph, Messi posted a picture on Instagram of him holding the trophy accompanied with the caption: ‘One more.’
