Life is a classroom where knowledge is daily imparted, and destinies are frequently impacted. If like me, this is also your worldview and heartfelt belief; you are a wise man or woman. Life’s daily lessons are nourishing. Life teaches continually without paucity. This simply means that life does not stop teaching things anew and afresh. What it taught yesterday may be taught again today as a reinforcement of some truths that are sacrosanct. And what it teaches today may be completely different from what it has ever taught. Life often teaches humans new perspectives. And everything that life teaches is an opportunity to gather experiences in all layers of existence.
Life teaches experience. When we work hard and get gains in breakthroughs, life is teaching us that hard work pays off. When money comes and scads of strange people get attracted to us as a result of our widening wealth; Life is teaching that wealth has many friends, and a poor man is hated even by his neighbour. When money fails and wealth fades and people who had once glued now distance themselves, Life is teaching us that men are fickle and life is full of fake friends. In success, life teaches. Even in failure, life teaches an experience that not even the best teachers can tutor. Anyone who is not taught by EXPERIENCE is as dumb as a manikin; and as dead as a dodo. And you aren’t dumb, you aren’t dead; are you?
Life teaches that pain and strangling struggle we experience may be fabricated bridges we need to the other side of life we yearn for. The pain and struggles may be teaching you that you are just one hop, one skip, and one jump away from success. It’s why you don’t give up in struggles. If you fail as you try to succeed; you have only failed a class, not the entire course. If I were you, I’d keep my mind open; and my ears patent to hear what life is teaching at that time of portending failure.
Life teaches that men can only delay breakthroughs that may be scheduled to come your way; they cannot stop them. They can always spin some iron rods in your wheels, gang up, conspire, and stay in lockstep and in cahoots with evil men to cripple your trip to the next level. But they will always fail if you have been marked for success. I know of men who have become kings despite the negative jabbering and stamps of disapproval of kingmakers. I have seen men become presidents despite the anger and angst of men who think they are owners of nations and God who determines all things. I have seen men become all God has programmed them to be in spite of the reprogramming agenda of vile men and vain viragos. Life always teaches that men cannot stop anyone that God has launched on the expressway of life to the Promised Land. These are life’s living lessons.
What else does life teach? You come across some people in your journey and they become more than blood relations. When you are down, they pull you up. When you are happy, their joy is full. They are your angels with big hearts and broad shoulders. They help you carry with love, burdens you carry with pain. Thank them always and not thrash or trash them. CELEBRATE them; don’t desecrate them. PRAY for them; don’t prey on them. If a time comes that they cannot stand; stand with them and help them stand. They are part of the reasons you are who you are today. These are life’s living lessons.
What does life teach? Each time you are under fire from your adversaries who just can’t stand you; know that you are in the labour room of precious experiences. The ‘amniotic’ water is about to break and something great is about to be born. I hear some people pray that God must kill their enemies. My enemies must not die. No, not yet! There is nothing as comforting as hearing your haters hear and see that God’s Glory has changed your story. Your enemies must not die. Not yet! They all have to experience the new and renewed you. You need those enemies. Great men don’t make history by just making friends. They make history by also making enemies. Nelson Mandela made enemies and then made history. Outlasting and outliving history is also made when men destined to be great are hated and despised by men with flesh and blood.
What else does life teach? If you sow a smile, you get a smile in return. If you sow love into the lives of others, you get plenteous love back. If you sow an action; you get a reaction. If you sow hate, hate will follow you. If you try to put people down for you to move up, you will soon come crashing down because you have just cloned men who will be mightier than you to bring you down. If you bruise others causing them pain, you will get pain untold. Anytime you sow a habit, a character has just been conceived. Life is an echo. What you send out comes right back to you. Whatever you and I sow is what we will reap. As long as the earth remains, this law of God shall not cease. These are life’s living lessons.
What else does life teach? Follow this story. Alexander III of Macedon commonly known as Alexander the Great was King of Macedonia. After many recorded conquests and massive accumulated wealth, he died at the tender age of 32. Alexander the Great was truly great. After his death, his empire collapsed and the nations within it battled for power.
On his deathbed, he summoned his army generals, spoke some words about wealth and those crazily accumulating it, then told them his three ultimate wishes that the best doctors should carry his coffin, the wealth he has accumulated (money, gold, precious stones) should be scattered along the procession to the cemetery; and his hands should be let loose, so they hang outside the coffin for all to see. One of his generals, surprised by these unusual requests, asked Alexander to explain. Here is what Alexander the Great had to say: “I want the best doctors to carry my coffin to demonstrate that in the face of death, even the best doctors in the world have no power to heal. I want the road to be covered with my treasure so that everybody sees that material wealth acquired on earth, will stay on earth. I want my hands to swing in the wind so that people understand that we come to this world empty-handed and we leave this world empty-handed.” These are life’s living lessons.
