Formula One legend Lewis Hamilton has shockingly predicted that Manchester City will not win the 2024-25 Premier League title next term.
City have been absolutely dominant in the top-flight under Pep Guardiola, with Sunday’s win over West Ham clinching the trophy for the fourth straight year.
Guardiola’s side are the first English side in history to achieve that feat with City having now remarkably landed six of the last seven Premier League titles.
City will once again head into the new campaign as the clear favourites but F1 hero Hamilton is tipping a different team to come out on top this time next year.
Hamilton, who is a big Arsenal fan, thinks it will be third time lucky for Mikel Arteta’s men at the end of the 2024-25 season.
Arsenal have missed out on the Premier League title to City in painful circumstances for two seasons in a row and club legend Thierry Henry is worried his old side will have nothing left in the tank next term.
Hamilton, though, sees things differently as he posted on Instagram: ‘Proud of this team. It’s ours next season.’
Arsenal manager Arteta is also convinced that Premier League glory is eventually coming to the Emirates, with the Gunners last winning the league back in 2004.
‘If we do what we have to do, we’re going to be closer and at the end we’ll win [the title],’ Arteta said on Sunday.
‘When, I don’t know. But if we keep knocking and being that close, in the end it will happen.
‘There’s only one way to do it: you have to be more determined, you have to be more ambitious, you have to have a lot of courage and push every limit in everything that we have. That’s the next step.
‘First one and most important [plan for the summer] is how we are going to get these players to a different level.
‘That is my first job and after that, if we still don’t have enough, for sure we will have to do everything we can to fulfil those gaps [with new signings].’
