Leeds have reached an agreement with Juventus over a loan deal for Weston McKennie, although other clubs remain interested and the deal is not over the line yet.
The 24-year-old has been linked with Arsenal this month, with Nottingham Forest also among the clubs keen on the American.
It is Leeds who are leading the race to sign him, with a verbal agreement between the clubs reached and also personal terms agreed, according to The Athletic.
The deal that has been agreed with Leeds would see McKennie move to Elland Road on loan for the rest of the season with the West Yorkshire club having an option to make the move permanent at the end of the campaign.
Juventus manager Max Allegri confirmed that a deal has been reached for McKennie and so he will not be involved in the Serie A clash with Monza on Sunday.
‘McKennie will not be available tomorrow because he is at the centre of a negotiation,’ said Allegri.
‘I think the club has already found an agreement with his new team and therefore he won’t be there tomorrow.
‘There will be no reinforcements on the market, if McKennie was to leave there will be Cuadrado, De Sciglio, Soulé, who can also play from outside. If necessary, we will be able to change the structure. The important thing is to recover everyone.’
The USA international has only been at Juve since 2020 when he moved on loan from Schalke, before making the move permanent the following year.
He has made 65 appearances for the Italian giants, scoring eight goals, and has remained a regular in the first team this season, making 13 Serie A starts.
