The Lagos State Government has called on traders to comply with various traffic and environmental regulations within the Ikeja Business District.

The Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Central Business District, Mrs Bola Olumegbon-Lawal, made this call during a meeting with the leadership of the Computer Village Market Association.

Olumegbo-Lawal condemned the illegal conversion of roads to markets and selling spots to traders, saying that such often obstructs the free flow of vehicular movement.

This was contained in a statement by CBD’s Deputy Director, Olaoye Olusegun, on Saturday.

The statement partly read, “We are aware that you are our partner in progress and a major stakeholder in finding a lasting solution to the traffic issues within the Ikeja Business District. We recognise that you have control over your members at the local level and I appeal to you to call them to caution them to ensure that the traffic situation within this axis improves.”

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Mr Tokunbo Wahab, on Saturday, also reopened the Alayabiagba Market in Boundary Ajegunle after adhering to all the prescribed sanitation measures by the state.

Wahab further explained that the state government would not relent in its efforts to ensure the sustainability of all sanitation laws guiding the establishment of market spaces.
