Kwara State Police Command has deployed tactical teams for public security on July 7th and beyond.
The move is meant to checkmate possible violence on July 7 of every year when cult groups mark their anniversary.
In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ejire Adeyemi Toun, in Ilorin on Sunday, the Command said it has implemented comprehensive strategies to prevent recurrence of past incidents observed on July 7th, where cult related activities have resulted in harm and violence within the society.
The Command assured all citizens of their safety and encouraged everyone to go about their daily activities with confidence.
“To ensure the security of our community, we have intensified our surveillance measures and increased the presence of visible policing across all key areas in the state.
“Our officers will be conducting thorough patrols and security checks today, the 7th of July, tomorrow, and thereafter to detect and deter any suspicious activities.
“We have deployed additional resources, including tactical teams and intelligence units to ensure a swift and effective response to any security threats. These efforts are aimed at safeguarding the lives and properties of all residents and maintaining public order.
“We urge all citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or persons to the nearest police station or through our emergency contact lines: 0812 527 5046 or 0703 206 9456. Your cooperation is vital in our collective effort to maintain peace and security within our community,” the statement said.
The Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, assured that he remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
