The situation surrounding the abduction of Prince Eniola Ojajuni, the Afenifere Youth Leader, remains critical as kidnappers have raised their ransom demand from N100 million to include two tricycles. This escalation comes after Ojajuni was kidnapped last week while traveling between Ondo and Kogi states on his way to Abuja.
In a recent development, a bus driver named Ali Isah, who narrowly escaped the same kidnapping incident, shared his harrowing experience. In an exclusive video, Isah recounted that he was driving a bus with 18 passengers when armed men opened fire, resulting in a gunshot wound to his leg. After the attack, he managed to drive to safety despite his injury, only to later lose consciousness and wake up in a hospital, where he received treatment for his wounds.
Isah’s account has provided crucial insights into the kidnapping, as police from Ayare Division in Kogi State were able to confirm the details of the incident and begin an investigation into the abduction of Ojajuni.
The kidnappers have threatened to execute Ojajuni if their demands are not met, amplifying the urgency for intervention. A coalition of Yoruba Youth Leaders has also voiced their concerns, urging President Bola Tinubu to mobilize all available resources to secure Ojajuni’s immediate and unconditional release. They have appealed to Southwest governors and traditional rulers to collaborate and advocate for swift action to rescue him.
The coalition’s statement emphasized that Ojajuni is not merely a leader but a symbol of the aspirations of the Yoruba youth, and his abduction is a significant affront to the community. They called for immediate action to address the growing menace of kidnapping that has instilled fear across the nation.
As of today, there are still no updates regarding Ojajuni’s condition or the ongoing efforts to secure his release. The Inspector General of Police has deployed a special investigation team, but the situation remains perilous.
As we await further developments in this alarming case, the call for collective action and support continues to grow. For ongoing updates, stay tuned to Newspot Nigeria.
