A three-man kidnapping gang invaded Saparu Village at Isale Oha in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area of Ogun State on Saturday, abducting a mother and her daughter.
The kidnappers carried out two operations in different villages in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area, Newspot learnt.
At Saparu, the kidnappers reportedly abducted a farmer, Ikanlu Jimoh, while he was planting tomatoes on his farm.
According to a source who did not want his name in print, the assailants “covered their faces with masks and shot in the air five times to scare away others who were on the farm with Jimoh.”
However, the farmer was reportedly “abandoned by his abductors when the villagers chased them in the bush.”
Newspot learnt the gang struck again a few hours later by kidnapping a trader, identified as Mujidat Otefila, and her daughter.
Otefila was kidnapped on Saturday night at her residence in Oju-Ilu, Imeko township, behind the Imeko-Afon Local Government Secretariat, as she was driving into her compound from her shop.
The source said: “When one of her daughters came down from the vehicle to open the gate of the house, the kidnappers suddenly appeared from where they were hiding, dragged her back into the car, and forced the woman to drive to the outskirts of the community, where the vehicle and the daughter were abandoned.”
The kidnappers were said to have called the victims’ family with the woman’s phone, saying they would talk to them later.
Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the incident to Newspot, affirmed that police operatives and men of the Amotekun corps are combing the bushes for the victim.
