Kano losses two former commissioners

Two former commissioners in Kano State, who served during the immediate past administration of Abdullahi Ganduje, have passed on.

The two commissioners, Alhassan Muhammad Dawaki and Barrister Zubaida Damakka, who were commissioners for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, as well as Budget and Economic Planning, respectively, died on Friday.

Alhassan Muhammad Dawaki, according to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Ibrahim Garba Shu’aibu, died after battling a brief illness at the age of 79 and left behind wives and 15 children.

A former Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Social Media, Abubakar Aminu Ibrahim, confirmed the death of Barrister Zubaida Damakka, saying that she died in Abuja after a brief illness, leaving behind three children and a husband.

Their funeral prayers took place in Kano on Sunday according to Islamic rites.

The statement described Dawaki as a prominent figure and well respected personality whose sudden departure had left a void in the hearts of many.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf acknowledged the significant loss that Dawaki’s demise represented while offering prayers for the strength and resilience of the grieving family, wishing them solace during the difficult period of mourning.
