The Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has pledged to release the third installment of pension payments to retirees in the state on Thursday, January 9, 2025.
Governor Yusuf made this announcement while launching a program to disburse N5,000 to 5,200 women across the 44 local governments of Kano State.
He assured that his administration would continue to pay retirees their entitlements to improve their welfare in Kano. Although he did not specify the exact amount to be disbursed for the third round of pension payments, he emphasized that his government would not neglect the well-being of the retirees.
On December 3, 2023, Governor Yusuf approved the release of N5 billion for the first round of pension payments, and on May 8, 2024, he approved N6 billion for the second round to pay at least 6,000 retirees who had not received their entitlements from 2016 to 2019.
Governor Yusuf acknowledged the harsh economic conditions and expressed empathy for retirees who have yet to receive their payments, recognizing the financial difficulties they are facing.
