The Kano State Government has vowed to complete the five-kilometre dual carriageway projects in the 44 local government areas of the state abandoned by the immediate past governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.

The Commissioner for Works, Housing and Infrastructure, Marwan Ahmad, stated this while receiving the new leadership of the State Correspondents’ Chapel during a courtesy call on Thursday.

Ahmad said the state government under the leadership of governor Abba Yusuf would complete the road projects to facilitate human and vehicular movements within the local government headquarters.

“The state government will do everything possible within the limited resources to complete the road project to ease human and vehicular movements,” Ahmad said.

According to him, the state government was also determined to reopen the 26 schools that were closed down by the immediate past administration.

He said the state government found it necessary to reopen the schools given their contribution to the social and economic development of the state.

“Most of these schools used to provide job opportunities to our teeming unemployed women and youths,” the commissioner said.

He said some of the schools included Informatics Institute, Kura, Sports Institute, Karfi, Skills Acquisition Centre Gabasawa and Poultry Institute, Makoda, among others.

“So, the government has started serious work and is making an effort to restore the lost glory of the state,” the commissioner added.

The immediate past government had accused the administration of Rabi’u Kwankwaso of leaving a liability of over N54.4bn for the five-kilometre road projects across the 44 LGAs.

Ganduje was also the deputy governor and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs during Kwankwaso’s administration.
