Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State, has again expressed concern over the deteriorating security situation in the state.

The governor, therefore, called on the Chief of Army Staff, COAS, General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, to draft more soldiers to the state.

Kefas, who on Wednesday, alongside the national assembly members from the state, stormed the Defence Headquarters in Abuja, requested that more troops be deployed to support the troops that have been on ground.

This was contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Jalingo, the state capital, by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communications, Emmanuel Bello.

The request, he said, has become necessary given the security challenges across the nation generally and the peculiar needs of Taraba State.

Describing the COAS as his mentor, Kefas, who is a retired military officer, said, he (Kefas), represents the military establishment in the state and that he will not let them down.

In the statement, the COAS, was observed to have pledged military support to the governor’s peace efforts.

“Taraba State would be used as a springboard for operational effectiveness in the North-East region; a battalion of combatants would be deployed to the state”.

Newspot observed that Taraba State, had in recent times been under siege following the activities of kidnappers and armed bandits.
